What? Yep, that’s me again! Making a peanut butter nougat mousse cake with vanilla bean frosting for 100 people! Also, this will be our first booth event! We’re selling cookies, brownies, biscotti, cheesecake slices, cake slices and pie slices!  It will be nutty!

 It’s been thirty years since Poplar Grove, one of America’s oldest peanut plantations, opened it’s doors to the public for tours. 

Come out to the plantation and celebrate the arts, the south, and of course, the peanuts!   

 Here’s What’s In Store !
Complimentary peanut butter flavored anniversary cake from Sugar on Front Street, served throughout the day!   Special guest, Congressman Mike McIntyre will be here to say a few words about Poplar Grove’s value to the community.   Dan Ward of the North Carolina Peanut Growers Association will speak on behalf of North Carolina Peanut Farmers.


9:00am – 5:00pm PEANUT PLANTATION LIFE It was the little peanut that brought the plantation back to civilization after the war.  The romance between Poplar Grove and the Peanut is everywhere today. 
  • In the Manor House: Anniversary Tour
  • In the Gift Shop: Mr. Ivey Hayes & his new work dedicated to Poplar Grove, “Picking Peanuts”  
  • In the Tenant House: sample boiled peanuts
  • In the Studios: old time craft demonstrations 
  • In the Peanut Building: exhibits, video, peanut farmers, displays, tools, and equipment
  • In the Garden: peanut plants (they don’t grow on trees)
  • In the Barn: peanut pictures by Topsail Elementary School students
  • In the Shade: peanut-licious treats – fried, roasted, boiled; peanut butter(PB) cheesecake, PB filled brownies, PB caramel bars, PB power-bites, and lots of other goodies.  Delciously prepared by  Carolina Peanuts, Half Baked Confections, La Gemma Bakery, Sugar On Front Street, & Skip the Chef, Laskody
